Phlebotomy

COURSE LENGTH : 10 weeks  HOURS : 80

Our Phlebotomy Technician training program is designed to provide students with the skill set that they

will need to pursue a career as an entry-level phlebotomist. Students must complete 30 venipuncture & amp;

10 capillary sticks “live” before sitting for national certification. Students will be able to obtain the

required venipuncture and sticks per classmates and volunteers. Students will have an unpaid

externship at a hospital or laboratory. Students will sit for national certification through the National

Health-Career Association (NHA) at CHTC. With a CPT certification, you will have the credentials you

need to set yourself apart from other applicants as you embark on a rewarding healthcare career.

Graduates are qualified to work in laboratories, hospitals, physician offices, and clinics.

In this course students will learn the following skills...

  • Describe the organization of healthcare facilities and the roles of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Apply phlebotomy theoretical knowledge in providing basic healthcare services.

  • Follow instructions and procedures accurately.

  • nsert a hypodermic needle and draw the blood into a tube.

  • Follow safety and compliance guidelines.

  • Follow patient preparation and blood collection guidelines.

  • Understand the basic rights of the clients, including the right to privacy, dignity, and

confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate effective, professional communication with clients, client’s families, and

healthcare team members.
