Nurse Aide

Nurse Aide, also referred to as Nursing Assistants, take part in patient's lives and assist in their daily activities. Nurse Aides play critical roles in maintaining and keeping the Nurse up-to-date on their patient's well-being.

 

Nurse Aide Training - Training program includes 60 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of clinical rotation as required by the state. Classes occur on Mondays-Wednesdays from 6PM-10PM for 8 weeks. This includes classroom and clinical instruction.

Billing and Coding Specialist

This is a 14-week online course for those interested in Billing and Coding.  Billing and Coding Specialists are professionals in healthcare who review medical records, checking for accuracy.  They also process various medical records and documents, ultimately releasing them to an insurance company or another medical entity.

Phlebotomy

This is a 6-week course that includes both didactic and clinical formats.  Phlebotomists are important members of the healthcare team.  Training will consist of the collection of blood samples in varying forms which allows physicians to diagnose and treat illnesses. 

Basic Anatomy and Physiology

This is a 10-week online course. The study of anatomy and physiology applies concepts and knowledge of the general terminology, cell structure and function, and histology, related to the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems to novel technical and/or clinical scenarios.

Medical Terminology

This 6-week online course is designed to engage students of all backgrounds and levels of education by teaching the language of medicine as it relates to all body systems.  The design and flexibility of Medical Terminology Express enable its use as a self-instructional program.

Clinical Medical Assistant

This is an 18-week course that includes both hybrid and didactic instruction, including medical assisting, basic phlebotomy skills, and EKG.  Clinical medical assistants are multi-skilled, allied healthcare professionals who specialize in procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory healthcare setting.  Medical assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties and assist a variety of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.  They typically work in medical offices, clinics, and urgent care centers and may work in general medicine or specialty practices.

SC/NC Medication Technician

This is a two-day training session that includes information for individuals interested in administering medication in assisted living settings in both NC and SC. 

NC Medication Aide

This is a four-day (24-hour) course that includes information for individuals interested in administering medication in Skilled Nursing Facilities in NC.  Upon completing the course, including completing skills competency, the individual will be eligible to take the state certification test.
